State of Flight.

This one is special to me as the idea and the image had been floating around my mind for years after reading about the witch hunts of the 1600s. Many a woman has been accused of witchcraft and one of the many damning reasons for this was that of flight with the Devil. In recent years, it has been thought that covens would experiment with Henbane which can give an out of body experience similar to that of flight and reports of this experience might have been interpreted as flights with the devil.

I have chosen to interpret this by showing the beauty and serenity of being connected to the natural world by depicting a woman at newest peace, barefoot and surrounded by henbane plants whilst communing with a murder of crows.

Printed on beautiful Japanese paper; Kozo Natural select. It is exceptionally strong but delicate at only 46gsm with 4 deckled edges. The ink used for this print is black Cranfield oil based ink. The printed image is 41x31cm and the paper size is 52x43cm.

All prints are original pieces of artwork, signed and printed by me. As such, each one will differ slightly from the photographed image.
