One of my favourites. A deep bowl made from 2kg of clay with a firm foot and an accentuated line at the base of the bowl.
Many uses for this piece. Fruit is an easy go to, however, if you're feeling hungry you could serve a huge bowl of ramen or soup in this functional piece.
Steep walls lead down to a swooping curved base. Firing marks, what I like to call birth marks, express some personality of what was endured during a hot firing process.
Often the foot of a bowl is a side line affair, but on this piece it is called off the bench and playing front row.
Some quivers of the throwing shine through at certain angles, reflecting light in a mesmerising way. One to stare at and admire.
The plate is made of red & white stoneware clay.
It has been oxidative fired in an electric kiln and shows wonderful stains of iron contained in the clay.
Due to the nature of the glaze this is a one of a kind plate.
Dishwasher, microwave and food safe.
